Matt Kreiter Art Piece: SOLO-2022 Spray Paint on Skateboard Decks

For the last two decades I have been interested in street art (my favorite artist being Blek the Rat). It wasn’t until Covid hit that I decided to take my love for this art to canvas.  I decided to combine spray paint with stencils because of the combination of precision that the stencils bring along with the free-form that spraying allows.  In this piece, titled Solo, I combined my love of both crows and skateboarding.  The contrast of the geometric background with the organic crow creates a juxtaposition that represents the world we live in now.  Hard and soft, sharp and smooth coexisting within the same plane.  I love working with the limitations and simplicity that stencils and spray paint bring to my work along and the challenge of letting go of perfectionism in art.  I hope you enjoy it and thanks for supporting Olympic View Elementary
