Geology of the Gunflint Trail - limit to 8 people

Are you curious about the rocks on the Gunfilnt Trail, and how this beautiful area evolved geologically over 2.6 billion years of Earth history?

Then you and your family or group (maximum of 8, 2 vehicle capacity) should join Poplar Lake resident and geologist John Craddock for a 3-hour session to learn about Gunflint geology.

The day will start with a brief presentation and rock samples to learn the basics and then excursions to various outcrops.

The session can be tailored to your interests and ages.

You will meet at Chik-Wauk Campus and use your own vehicles for transportation to the sites.

What should I bring?

• Water
• Snacks
• Appropreiate outdoor footwear, clothing, and headwear
• Anything you need to be comfortable outdoors: sunscreen, bug repellant, rain jacket
• Layers
• Backpack to carry your items in

The winning bidder will be contacted to set up a date and time that will work best for everyone. Suggested dates May 25 - July 8, August 13 - September 5, or early October 2023.
