MBSR Seminar for 20 people (Washington, D.C. area)

This introductory Mindfulness seminar (up to 2 hours) for as many as 20 people at your workplace can be tailored to your organization's needs.

The seminar is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society.
   
Participants will enjoy the actual experience of mindfulness meditation and explore how mindfulness meditation can lower stress, help slow down negative habitual reactions, and give one the ability to respond more creatively to personal and workplace challenges.

After a brief introduction on the physiology of stress and scientific studies on how the brain can re-wire though meditation, participants will learn a simple mindfulness seated meditation. The seminar will include time for discussions and questions.

Presented by Nancy Miller:
For the past 4 years, she has been leading mindfulness programs for employees and seniors in Arlington County, clients of Catholic Charities Men’s Transitional Rehabilitation Program in Washington, DC, and inmates of the Arlington County Detention Facility. A life long meditator, she has received training to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, (MBSR), through the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society, completing intensive coursework with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Dr. Saki Santorelli. She holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester and has extensive managerial experience in the corporate and national nonprofit sectors.
