In 29 years as an artist in the Berkshires, Cynthia Atwood has participated in local and regional exhibitions. Motivated by attraction to materials she makes objects that confront with sensuous humor and some provocation. Often there are details of clothing in the work,referring to the fashion we cover ourselves with, our facade. Atwood’s achievements include a N.E.F.A. Sculpture Fellowship; a Klot’s Residency in Brittany, France, Artist in Residence IS 183 “With A Grain of Salt”; “The Body Project” with Railroad Street Youth Project; and teaching graduate students at Vermont College of Fine Art in Montpelier and NHIA in Manchester, NH
