Vajra Armor Amulet - Silver

Vajra Armor amulet, silver, decorated with 6-syllable mantra

This unique and beautiful amulet represents the collaboration, time, and generosity of multiple artisans and practitioners for the well-being and liberation of beings.

The Vajra Armor (Dorjei Kotrab) mantra is a mantra found in the termas of Ngadag Nyang Ralpa, Sangye Lingpa, and Dorje Lingpa. The termas describe it as a universal healing mantra given by Padmasambhava to be used in the Kaliyuga. The termas describes many uses of the mantra to cure or prevent many diseases, including how to make a Vajra Armor amulet for protection.

This amulet was prepared by a student of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. Before leaving this world on September 27th, 2018, Rinpoche regularly gave empowerment of this mantra and specific instructions of how to activate and use it as an amulet worn around the neck. This amulet has been prepared and activated in accordance with Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche's instructions.

The paper used in this amulet was made by members of the Khandroling Paper Cooperative (http://khandrolingpapers.blogspot.com/), a group of independent artists connected to the Namkhai Norbu's Tsegyalgar Dzogchen Community and Khandroling, the sacred land of the Dakinis in Buckland, MA. The cooperative makes special paper from worn-out texts and other sacred materials for use in calligraphy, spiritually meaningful art such as mandalas, as well as materials intended to create a link to an enlightenment tradition through touch and sight.

The handmade paper in this amulet is infused with gold leaf and precious substances gathered from sacred places, including substances such as earth and sand from power spots around the world, plant materials such as nettles from Milarepa's birthplace, juniper from Machig Labdron's birthplace, and clay from Ayukhandro's cave.

The mantra is written by hand on the special paper in gold ink in a long unbroken line, empowered, then wrapped with other sacred substances in gold-flecked royal blue Habotai silk, then placed inside this elegant ghau amulet.

The amulet itself is made of silver and was fair-trade sourced from by Anima Designs (https://www.animadesigns.com/) from artisans in Nepal. It is inscribed with OM MANI PADME HUM, the mantra of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and decorated with solder and wire designs.

Measures approximately 1 2/3" (43mm) long and 1/2" (13mm) wide.
