“I like to move paint around on paper. My goal is to translate what I see, rather than transcribe. Sometimes that works, some times it doesn’t. It’s all a practice.”

Alice Winston Carney is a native of Las Vegas, New Mexico. She now lives in Sacramento, California and Sapello Valley, outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico

She considers herself privileged to have attended New Mexico Highlands University when Elmer Schooley, Harry Leippe, Ray Drew, and Paul Volkening were the Art Department. 

In addition to painting with Susan Post and the Sapello Valley Art Group, she studies watercolor with Woody Hansen in Sacramento and is greatly influenced by the California watercolor painters, especially Henry Fukahara. She is represented by 2 Ten Galeria in Las Vegas, New Mexico and has been chosen to show in the New Mexico Highlands University Painters Exhibition.
