“Grandma’s Back Yard”, by Pat Roberts

This artwork by Pat Roberts truly shows the sometimes-unnoticed battle between man and nature: the chairs are becoming rusted, the vines are overtaking the structure, and the ground has become overrun with weeds. This piece also transcends the frame by utilizing all three dimensions. It incorporates an acrylic medium, rusted metal, natural materials, and found objects. 

Roberts grew up in rural Vermont, with its beautiful scenery, changing seasons, and wonderful colors. Robert’s art can be found all over West Virginia, and has also been displayed in The Smithsonian.
