About Aidi

Born and raised in the city of New Orleans, Aidi discovered her love of art at an early age. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Houston in 1998, and paired it with a teaching degree, to teach art to children of all ages.

Around this same time, Aidi's husband surprised her with her first pet; a Jack Russell Terrier named Bobo. So moved by her love for Bobo, Aidi decided to paint her portrait and thus discovered her true passion; combining her love of animals with her love of art. At the time, pet portraiture was not always easy to find, and Aidi's work quickly took off.

In 2001, Aidi returned to New Orleans and began showing her works in a prominent Royal Street Gallery. This gallery is credited with saving several paintings from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when Aidi's personal studio (and the pieces it contained) was lost.

Since rebuilding in early 2006, Aidi's home studio has grown and flourished, as has her family. Now the mother of 2 children and 3 rescued dogs, Aidi has seen an evolution in her work and a higher demand for it. After creating the now locally-famous "Dawgs of N'awlins", Aidi saw a way to incorporate her love of her home into her work as well. As the New Orleans collection grows, fans of her work can expect to see the incorporation of instruments and other symbols of this resilient and inspiring city.

Aidi is artistically inspired by the works of Chuck Close, Agnes Martin, and Jean-Michelle Basquiat.
