The Meeha Mission

Our mission is to address the social disparities in healthcare through the use of Acupuncture and holistic medicine practices with the specific intent to serve immigrant and underserved communities in the Portland area. Denise Adán's passion is fueled by her experience growing up in the Mexican and Polish immigrant communities of Chicago and seeing preventable and manageable health issues progress unnecessarily due to poor case management and minimal access to alternative health care.

The Meaning of Meeha

The business name is in honor of my father, Isidro Escobar Adán, who passed in 2014 of NAFLD. Like all little Latina girls, my father would call me “mija”, pronounced "meeha".  This term is an affectionate way to address females in Spanish, meaning “my daughter”, “sweetheart” or “dear”. Whenever I approach a new challenge I always hear my father saying “you can do this, mija” and to bless my path as a healer Meeha Mindbody Acupuncture was born.
