Francey Potter
A note from the artist:
“My little library is a colorful playhouse in red, yellow and turquoise with trees and vines growing all around. The window on the back depicts 3 children and the text reads ‘reading is the window to the world.’”
Artist bio:
Francey Potter earned a BA in Art from Webster University in St. Louis. She spent a semester studying in Florence, Italy and participated in the Art/Form program at the Mark Twain Summer institute at Washington University. She has done additional study in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and at Arizona State University.
Her work is a unique process based on the ancient Chinese art form “nei-wah” which means, “to paint from behind on glass.” The layers of paint and paper are applied directly to the glass and create many subtle variations of color and pattern. The glass panels are then assembled into constructions with strong architectural character.
Francey’s personal interests include gardening, travel, gourmet cooking and jewelry making.
