3rd Grade Collaborative Art Project

“Wishes and Glimpses”

This piece was inspired by the work of artist Jenn Hassin from Austin, TX.  Jenn was kind enough to instruct us in the methods she employs in creating her art, which helped us tremendously in seeing success in our finished piece. This piece was created entirely of paper straight from the recycling bins of the 3^rdgrade classrooms and the art room. Each child folded and rolled a sheet of paper and wrote a wish either on the inside or outside of their paper prior to rolling. These rolls were individually glued onto a painted piece of plywood in a way that creates movement within the piece. If you look closely, you will see glimpses of life in third grade in each roll. The piece is even dated with the school year 2017-2018 in the lower left corner!
