Vases carved from Pete Seegers' Sloop

Pete Seeger was an American folksinger, song writer and conservation activist. Back in the early 1970’s, Seeger aimed at saving the Hudson River by halting the pollution and raising awareness. The beautiful wood vases and table (5 – 7 ½ inches high) are made by Peter Tonge with the purple vase from Pete Seegers sloop, the Clearwater from purple heart wood from the keel of his sloop. Due to his efforts, Federal Water Pollution Control Amendment of 1972 was signed. It introduced a permit system for regulating point sources of pollution and is known as the Clean Water Act.

Generously donated by Michele Westmorland and millwork by Peter Tongue. (Small vase is from sawn oak, table from sawn oak with purple heart strip from Pete Seegers sloop and medium vase from oak)
