I Went
Acrylic on Canvas
This piece showcases the poem "At the Crossroads" written by Hannah Szenes, a Jewish Hungarian paratrooper, circa 1942. Hannah Szenes was a paratrooper and voluntarily went in to Nazi occupied Hungary to fight for her people. She was captured and killed by the Nazis in 1943. Though her life was short, her legacy remains through her poems and songs. As a Jew of Hungarian descent, I feel a connection with Szenes' words, especially this short poem. What cause will call you? Will you go?
