Cardinals were my grandmother's favorite bird. She is gone now, but her spunk and spirit are so alive in my memory that whenever I see a cardinal I am drawn to watch that lovely splash of red in the trees until it flies away. I value every cardinal visit, because of the bird's own beauty, and because of the beautiful memories of Grandma.
