Description

Photographer Chris Mottalini

"The Michaels House (#1), Westport, CT (1972-2007)" from the series "After You Left / They Took It Apart"

Cibachrome print, titled, signed, and dated 2014 verso.

Image: 29" H x 39.5" W

With Frame: 36.25" H x 49" W.

Mottalini photographed the series "After You Left / They Took it Apart" when three important Paul Rudolph (American, 1918-1997) homes in Westport were demolished within a space of two years between 2005-2007.

Having just had a Modernism Week Tour to Sarasota Modern, and seeing all of the stunning Paul Rudolph architecture there, it's sad to think that so many homes in one town by Rudolph were demolished within 2 years of each other.  That being said, this is a very haunting, yet beautiful reminder that his work once existed there, and seeing this on your wall at home or the office will keep those house memories alive.
