About the Artist and the Piece:

Meet Kathleen, a distinguished local artist who has transitioned from traditional gallery exhibitions to sharing her captivating work in unconventional settings. Her artistic exploration revolves around the intricate interplay between the environment and the human body.

Kathleen's current artistic journey is a unique one. Each day, she embarks on a meditative ritual of walking a solitary circle along the banks of the Bow River. In this untamed, feral space, she engages with the environment in profound ways, encountering fellow human beings, as well as the rich tapestry of flora and fauna that call this place home.

The painting you see is part of a compelling series, comprising twelve pieces, each a response to Kathleen's personal experience of an eventful canoe mishap on the Ghost River. Through her art, Kathleen invites you to delve into the intimate connection between the human spirit and the natural world, offering a glimpse into her profound encounters within this wild, transformative landscape.
