Katherine Maloney: Tree Frog Faceted Box
This tree frog seems ready to hop onto your hand. Red stoneware clay is wheel-thrown to form the box and then painted with porcelain slip. The frog is sculpted and carved from white stoneware clay and fired with many glazes. The lid fits securely onto its base with a key notch made to line up the faceted design.
