COVERSATION PIECE! Vintage Colonial Figure-Ivory Coast

Africa was colonized by European powers during the late 19th century and early 20th century, a period known as the Scramble for Africa. The colonization of Africa continued until the mid-20th century when most African countries gained their independence. This elongated wooden statue is an authentic depiction of an African dressed in traditional colonial clothing from colonial Ghana on the Ivory Coast. Kente cloth is a traditional fabric from Ghana. Most likely its is kente cloth is often used to create traditional garments like tunics, skirts, and scarves.
