Tour of the Hoover Homestead

Helen and Adrian Hoover lived on the Gunflint Trail during their time they wrote four popular adult books and three books for the juvenile market in the 1960s and 1970s. Helen and Adrian were both 44-year-old Chicago professionals following a long-held dream of escaping harsh urban life.

Les & Liz Edinger own the property where the original cabin stood. Walk down the road and gaze out the window that gave inspiration to Helen to write, Years of the Forest, Animals at My Doorstep, The Long-Shadowed Forest, The Gift of the Deer, and many more.

Les & Liz will give you a private tour of the original cabin, show you photos of what the inside used to look like, and show you the chicken coop that Helen wrote about. 

Along with the tour for four; is an issue of the Humpty Dumpty magazine that Helen Hoover wrote short stories in, issue March 1963.

The tour will take place during the summer months, the winner will be contacted to set up a date and time that will work best for both parties.
