History Tour of Gunflint Lake with shore lunch for two
Enjoy a day on the water with your hosts Bruce and Sue Kerfoot.
Bruce Kerfoot was the first white child born on Gunflint Lake back in the 1930s. He has spent his entire 80+ years on Gunflint Lake. Bruce has seen a lot of changes over the years.
The tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. circumnavigating Gunflint Lake with a running commentary from the first recorded native Americans living on Gunflint Lake to the initial trappers and prospectors. You will hear about the miners and the railroad that came through the Gunflint Lake area in 1892.
In the middle of your history tour, there will be a stop for an old-fashioned “shore lunch” of fish from Gunflint Lake, plus all the traditional fixins.
After that delicious lunch, you will have a chance to hear about the first seasonal homeowners, the different resorts over the years, and how the priorities of the visitors have changed.
The day will be completed back at the dock around 4:00 p.m.
â—‹ Rain gear and appropriate clothing for the time of year you visit.
â—‹ A good wool hat, gloves, and or a hat to shade you from the sun.
The winner will be contacted to set up a date and time that will work best for both parties.
