Faux Scrimshaw Globe Paperweight
Here is an amazing and well made globe for your nautical themed den, bar, mancave, she shed, or office. It is 6.5 inches tall and pretty immaculate. The Comoy's of London label has NOT gone missing as it normally does.
The scrimshaw ink process appears genuine but this is clearly not ivory or whalebone, likely a synthetic material. Best guess is that it’s 40-50 years old, but that is only a guess based on a conversation with the previous owner who collected these.
The map on the globe depicts the widely accepted route of Magellan’s 1519 trip around the world. The base is complete with sea serpents and other designs.
Donated by Ellen Luksberg.
