Antoni Gaudà Art Lesson - DRAGON ON THE ROOF
This lesson is the definition of whimsical and cheerful! A dragon on the roof!? Yes! Your 3rd or 4th grader will learn about the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí with this mosaic and paper collage lesson. Inspiration for this lesson came from one of Gaudí’s masterpieces, the Casa Batlló in Barcelona. The uniquely designed building has a roof that looks like a dragon! The roof is arched and shimmers iridescent in the sun, like the scales on the back of a dragon.
In this lesson the students will learn how to draw a dragon, and with the use of sponges they give their dragon MOSAIC scales , then they use paper crayons to color the wings and sprinkle glitter over the dragon to give him sparkle, they will also draw Casa Batllo and color it using the MOSAIC “tiles”.
Students will learn about PROPORTIONS, UNITY, SHAPE, COLOR and STAMPING.
This class is appropriate for 3nd and 4nd grade students. All materials will be provided.
