Not far from Fort Collins, Ptarmigan Country Club golf course was designed in 1979 by the legendary Jack Nicklaus to accent the dramatic vista of the Rocky Mountains. This signature course offers golfers of all skill levels a variety of challenges in its several hundred acres of terrain, featuring 97 sand traps, lush bent-grass greens, four different tee boxes on every hole, rolling topography, and 100 feet of elevation change from south to north.
The Jack Nicklaus Design course at Ptarmigan is a 7,201-yard, par 72 championship course that has something for everyone. Ptarmigan’s 158-acre course provides a formidable contest for the competitive golfer and a unique, graduated, four-tee system for the recreational player. The undulating, 18-hole course is rich in nuance with a 100-foot change in elevation from south to north and 97 sand traps. Ptarmigan has a bird’s-eye view of one of the most splendid vistas in Colorado-rugged Long’s Peak and surrounding mountains.
Under the supervision of Scott Robbins, Certified Course Superintendent who has been with Ptarmigan since its opening, the maintenance staff prides itself in maintaining the greens and tee boxes at the highest possible level. The soft-spike requirements also help ensure that the playing surface remains healthy and strong.
