Photograph was taken during an early morning Galveston FeatherFest nature photography class. We were out at East Beach before sunrise and that morning's dawn turned out to be unbelievable brilliant. The bird flying in front of the sun was a stroke of luck; I wish I could say I planned it, but I didn't.
Pat Jakobi is a Galveston photographer. Her favorite subjects are the natural world and architecture of the island. She shows her work at the Galveston Art League gallery on Postoffice and is the author of Early Galveston Artists and Photographers: Recovering a Legacy, published in 2021 by The History Press.
