Most People Pick Three Art Wheel by Dave Wiedl
Material: Cast aluminum made from recycled bicycle rims
Artist statement/bio:
I was introduced to cast metals while attending the college of visual arts in St. Paul, MN.
I graduated with a bachelor of fine art in 1993 and discovered that cast metals has always been a passion of mine.
I worked in a studio/gallery in Northeast Minneapolis called “The Space.” During that time, I was a founding member of “Art a Whirl.”
I moved to NY in 1999 and participated in grass roots group shows until getting a solo show in the DUMBO arts district of Brooklyn. It was reviewed by the NY Post as “art pick of the week.” Returning to MN I built my foundry in back yard where I currently work.
I enjoyed this project because it combines my enthusiasm for cycling and cast metals. I used recycled bicycle rims to make it unique. While keeping the modern design, I was able to bring the image back to its raw form.
