Unicorn in Captivity

This is a rare and strange ornament, once sold by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The ornament, called the “Unicorn in Captivity,” is based off of an eponymous work of art called the Unicorn Tapestries, created in 1495 in what is now the Netherlands. The Tapestries are now in the collection of the Met, from which they created this whimsical ornament. If you want something on your tree (or just hanging in a window!) that no one else has – this is it!

(We’ve searched and searched…no amount of Googling produces much about the ornament’s production, and it’s certainly the only one we can find for sale!)

This item can be mailed to you (arrangements made after bidding ends for shipping costs), or you can pick it up at the Museum for free.
