Liz Lerma Bowerman is listed in the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She is a well known Hispanic artist born in 1951 who works in sculpture, ceramics, and other art forms. She was the director of MARS (Movimiento Artístico del Rio Salado) in Phoenix and a co-curator, with Max Benavidez, of Post-Chicano Generation in Art: Breaking Boundaries exhibition. Her art was included in the exhibit Chicano Art: Resistance and Affirmation which toured the US from 1990 to 1993, appearing at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Fresno Art Museum, Tucson Museum of Art, Albuquerque Museum of Art, National Museum of American Art in Washington DC, Bronx Museum of the Arts, El Paso Museum of Art, and the San Antonio Museum of Art.

The lower left corner includes the following inscription: "ESAA Title VII" which is believed to be a reference to art grants issued under the Emergency School Aid Act, Special Arts Project, to provide opportunities for interracial and intercultural communication and understanding through various art disciplines.
