Cooking Class With Cary Pollak
Cary Pollak is a Washington, DC attorney who has taught cooking classes for over 30 years. He also is a food and travel writer and restaurant critic whose byline has appeared in Capitol File and DC Style magazines, the WhiskandQuill.com and DCdigest.com websites and National Press Club's on line newsletter, The Wire. He has been featured in print media and on radio talk shows across the country. Locally, he has given cooking demonstrations at such venues as Whole Foods, Williams & Sonoma and Kitchen Bazaar. His classes have been auction items at fund raising galas for the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Washington Improv Theater, Cultural Tourism DC, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the Huntington’s disease foundation, Washington Opera Camerata and more.
Cary is offering a cooking class for 8 - The winner of the bid has an option of 1 of the following classes:
1. Wok Cookery (Chinese) : hot and sour soup, ginger beef with broccoli, chicken (bite sized breast pieces) with hoi sin sauce and almonds, including tea and rice.
2. Indian: curried chicken (bite sized breast pieces) with fresh ground and blended spices, cauliflower with ginger and tomatoes, masoor dal (lentils) with grilled onion, raita (yogurt with cucumber, parsley and tomato).
3. Hungarian: cold cherry soup with Hungarian red wine, korozet (cream cheese, anchovy and paprika spread), chicken paprikash (bite sized breast pieces), palascinta (dessert crepes with lemon cheese filling).
-French: onion soup, ballotine of deboned chicken stuffed with ground veal and thinly sliced ham, cold lemon soufflé. ($40 additional to the instructor.)
