During snowy months, the Chittenden Brook Road will be closed (road closure is subject to weather conditions, and may occur earlier than Dec. 15), and access to the hut is limited to human-powered modes of travel only. Parking will be located at the start of Chittenden Brook Road, where the gate will be closed and the access road unplowed. It is from here where you will begin your ski or snowshoe toward the hut. The approach from the gate to the hut is approximately 2.2 miles.
During months when the Chittenden Brook Road (a US Forest Service Road) is open (early/mid-May – early/mid-December), guests may drive directly to the hut (two cars max at hut, additional parking located in lot on southern end of campground). Alternatively, guests may hike in via the Chittenden Brook Trail, which can be accessed from Chittenden Brook Road or from the Long Trail (hut is located approx 1.8 miles from the intersection of Long Trail).
