The Sphinx in Canyon X near Page, Arizona Photo Print

LIVE AUCTION ITEM  Auction begins following dinner Thursday, 1/20/22.

This is a unique photo portrait of "The Sphinx" in Canyon X as photographed by Steve Ness in 2008.  Canyon X is a slot canyon on Navajo Lands near Page, Arizona.  In 2008, a guide was necessary to go there.  Fortunately, Steve and an associate chose Jackson Bridges as their guide.  Jackson was a great photographer in his own right so he knew about unique land features in the area, and the timing needed to fully capture them.  One of Jackson's favorite selections was “The Sphinx”.  It is unlikely there are many photos of this feature in existence, as Jackson was particular about who he guided.  Jackson died on July 5, 2019 at age 81 and his extensive knowledge is greatly missed.

Image is printed with a Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-4000 printer, utilizing 12 pigment-based Canon LUCIA PRO inks printed on Epson 260 Premium Luster Photo Paper. Epson 260 is resin-coated with a 260 gsm, and a 10 mil thickness which provides a durable photo feel. It produces vivid, lifelike images and delivers highly saturated prints with high ink absorption rates and a wide color gamut. Also used are use acid free mats and mounting, so image is "archival". Print is sprayed with a UV Protective coat to preserve the image against sunlight fading.

The photo was printed and framed by Dot Dotson's Photo Finishing in Eugene.  The size of the frame is 21 3/16" x 29 3/16".  Print area is 15 3/4" x 23 3/4".
