1969 Chicago Cubs Ron Santo Autographed Black Cat Photo

This photo was autographed by Ron Santo on his visit to Morton's Bob Grimm Chevrolet on November 19, 2005.  The photo is the famous 1969 Black Cat photo, bought that day in 2005 by Mortonite Jeff King, who donated it to the MCF for this year's auction.

With the Mets one and a half games behind first-place Chicago for the Division lead in 1969, a black cat ran onto the field at Shea Stadium, scampering by on-deck batter Ron Santo and across the visitor's dugout.  The Cubs lost the game 7-1 and eventually lost the Division to the Mets.

The black cat bad-luck story haunted the Cubs until the Cubs defeated the Indians 4–3 in the 2016 World Series to win their first World Series since 1908.
