Michelle Guitard is an acrylic painter of landscapes, florals and other elements of nature. Born in Vancouver, British Colombia, Michelle now resides in Ancaster, Ontario. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Guelph, Georgian College and York University with a focus on painting, drawing and printmaking. She is currently taking Addiction Caseworker Studies at McMaster University. 

Michelle paints daily and teaches art to adults in the evenings and weekends at her Studio Art and Soul Creative in Ancaster. She facilitates art retreats in Collingwood, Ontario and San Miguel, Mexico. 

Her work continues to be exhibited in solo and group shows. Permanent pieces are on display at Wellwood, Quatrefoil, Scarfone Hawkins, Lamont Law and in other private collections. 

Artist’s Statement  
Rather than recreating an image on a canvas, I aim to express its essence. In order to capture this richness, I work on a number of paintings concurrently. This allows me to transport strong elements and effective techniques from one painting to another. I am most interested in the movement of organic shapes and patterns using colour and texture. Each multi-layered painting captures some fragment of the images power until each piece coalesces to express its deepest essence.
