Dundas artist, Janet Parker, takes inspiration from the landscapes in her hometown and around the world as travel plays a major role in her art. Shape, colour and light ignite her works, especially while painting en plein air. Born and educated in England, Janet moved to Canada in 1969. Since retiring from her career in 2003, she has pursued art full-time.

Artist’s Statement
My first visit to Newfoundland was in the summer of 2018. The weather was beautiful, the people so helpful and the scenery a landscape artist’s dream. My husband and I drove from St. John’s to Gross Morne, stopping off for three days each in five different places. Along the way I was able to stop to make some quick watercolour sketches and this painting was completed in the studio from one of those.
