Abundance of Life

Spray paint on deep edge cradled wood panel

48" x 31"

This painting was inspired by an original photograph of Havasupai Falls located in the Grand Canyon. I was drawn to the image because of the detailed sculptural structure of the rocky canyon and the powerful movement of the waterfall. For me, the waterfall represents unleashed creativity in a constant fluid shape that is ever changing and renewing. I’m originally from Arizona so it was fitting to depict such a monumental Arizona image. The project took more than 120 hours to complete and was produced using 10 individually hand-cut stencil layers and consists of more than 50 separate colors of spray paint.

I was inspired to participate in this event because I firmly believe in the importance of educating everyone on the value of water and I saw this as my opportunity to contribute to that cause. In many cultures, water is symbolic of life. Our understanding of water conservation and sustainability is vital to the quality of life on this planet.
