"I grew up in the Sonoran desert. It's my home just as much as it's home to the saguaro, the ocotillo, and the many different kinds of cacti -- and I want to protect it. Growing up, I lived to be on a horse; the spirit horses capture that feeling plus the idea of mustangs. This time, the mustangs are outlined in copper "mica" and mounted over patterned paper. I created the rest of the pieces, though the owl was a mold that I enhanced.
