"How They Got There" shows the tracks heading to its last stop, while the fishing boats are docked in the bay.
Artist Statement:
"I was born and brought up in Provincetown. As a child and young adult, the train depot and railroad tracks ran just below my home (now CVS parking lot) I was used to hearing hte train as it rolled along making its way to the Railroad Wharf, now McMillan Pier. I learned to ride my bike on the platform where riders would disembark."
Brenda is a full. time artist represented by Cortile Gallery in Provincetown. She has painted for approximately 25 years. Prior to being an artist, she was the instrumental music teacher in the Provincetown School System for 20 years.
Brenda was chosen to paint the "Pilgrim Bark Park: sign and designed a former "Portuguese Festival" shirt. A painting of the fishing fleet was commissioned to be sent to Bulgaria, to be hung in the American University in Bulgaria.
She usually paints the Provincetown Fishing Fleet representing her Portuguese heritage and honoring the life of the fisherman going back four generations.
