Maple Serving Platter by TJ Anderson
Spalted Maple platter. This Maple platter had been eaten in many places by termites. I used man-made turquoise nuggets to inlay into the termite eaten areas. It is finished with polyurethane. It measures 15” in diameter and 1.5” high

I grew up in my father’s custom cabinet shop, so I have been around wood most my life. I started turning full time about 12 years ago. It is my passion as well as a great therapy. My goal with each piece I make is to create something that not only looks good but feels good in the hand. I turn most of my piece while there is still a lot of moisture in the wood. After I complete the piece, I place it on a kitchen rack and allow the piece to dry naturally and take on its own unique shape.
