Sunset Along the Coast

Inspired by a photograph by Ian McAllister, this acrylic painting highlights Pacific Ocean giants like Humpback whales that depend on the preservation of the ocean for their survival. Following Pacific Wild and Ian's photographs for years, I've found the vast Great Bear Wilderness to be a landscape that I strive to experience one day. Growing up along the Oregon Coast, watching wales splash their tales out in the ocean was a common activity for me growing up. When I saw this photograph, it reminded me of those experiences and the importance of having wild giants like whales in our ecosystems. The Great Bear Wilderness and the ocean on its' shores is an amazing wild place that wildlife can roam and call home. Even though I have not yet visited the Great Bear myself yet, it is a place I have admired and dreamed about for many years. Creating this painting has helped me learn more about the importance ecosystems along the British Columbia coast and continues to inspire my planning to one day visit this wilderness when we all are ready to travel again. My hope is that this 6"x8" canvas acrylic painting will bring you a calming sense of why protecting the Great Bear Rainforest is important for all life that depend on it.
