TRIK 09 is a Visual Graffiti artist based in Sheffield, UK.
Specialising in exterior and interior murals and graphics, his recognisable and vibrant style is heavily influenced within the roots of Hip Hop and popular culture.

He started in 2007 just after secondary school and slowly developed his style over a period of five years before he started to make a name for his self within his local community. He is known mostly for his bold contrast of colours and effects within his work. TRIK 09's letters are focused on simple yet exaggerated and stylised structure. His character style inspired from a blend of different elements from Japanese Manga and Anime, Disney, Pin-Up and classic 'Oldschool' B-Boy Graffiti characters. 

TRIK 09 has painted in a number of cities around the world including Orlando, New York, Lisbon, London, Manchester, Doncaster, Rotherham, Leeds, Blackpool, Liverpool, Glasgow and Sheffield.

"Birth the Earth" was first inspired by the lyrics of the track by american rapper ‘NAS’ feat Kelis titled "American Way” The verse states...

Most woman who love Jeevanji of Gucci
Are pretentious non-Black groupies or floozies
But who are we to blame, not the dames
It's a man-made game, in essence our woman the same
Beautiful creatures, Black girls birthed the earth
So they deserve to earn man's purse
Matter fact, I'm about to go shopping with my dime
Catch you cowards the next time, the next rhyme.

“This verse all ways stuck with me and I feel eventually became a point that I visually wanted to work on. It wasn't until a good while after when I revised this idea that I came across the "eve gene.  In human genetics, the Mitochondrial Eve (also mt-Eve, mt-MRCA) is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all living humans. In other words, she is defined as the most recent woman from whom all living humans descend in an unbroken line purely through their mothers and through the mothers of those mothers, back until all lines converge on one woman. 

As so I thought being this proof that all living beings are all connected through a gene that only comes from the African woman, I felt that the best representation of God would be a black woman, as so is the Inspiration of this piece.”
