I was born in Sheffield England. As a child I was always one for drawing or coping things out of books. From animals to cartoons out of comics. It was just something to keep me occupied at the time. As a teenager growing up in the 1980's and discovering Hip Hop in 1983 and all the elements that went with it. I quickly picked up Breakdancing. With this came the artistic side of Hip Hop. Because in the background I noticed an art form I had never seen before. The only time I had seen this sort of thing was in New York when I was there on holiday. I saw this on the Brooklyn subway trains. At the time I never knew what it was or the connection to Hip Hop. The more I saw Breakdancing on TV the more I saw this Graffiti Art in the background and immediately saw the connection. This is when my love affair for this art form started and would last the rest of my life. I quickly picked it up and met other Artists’ interested in the same thing and so formed crews. Together we would hold exhibitions and run Graffiti Art competitions. We even made a short film about Graffiti in 1985. In 1986-87 I went back to New York and lived there for 6 months, during this time I could not wait to see the subway trains covered in Graffiti, which they were. These were the times when subway trains with Graffiti were continuously replaced; I was honoured to see a lot of subway trains with Graffiti, some of which l painted and I met a lot of well known Graffiti Artists’ there which have become friends. Not so long after I left New York.
On my return to the UK I continued to carry on doing Graffiti and have since been back to NYC on many occasions, which I think shows in my style of Graffiti that I call ‘TransAtlantic’. Over the years I have helped bring a number of credible Artists’ to my hometown from NYC to paint at exhibitions. I also organise and run annual Graffiti Art jams in Sheffield, which I’ve now done for over a fifteen years for Writers from all over the UK to take part in, as well as painting personalised canvases for clients from all over the world, alongside commissioned projects.
