The beautifully framed print was finished with gallery glass (clean with alcohol not Windex!)
The painting was done by Rembrandt about 1664-65. Pallas Athena or, Armoured Figure by Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn. There has been much historical discussion as to whom the painting actually represents.
The painting was done in Amsterdam. It was acquired at various times, including by Catherine the Great of Russia, and also by the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. Currently, the painting is owned by the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon.
