Mike Snegg: Norfolk Island Pine Bowl

Vessel carved from the entire trunk of a Norfolk Island pine tree imported from Kauai, Hawaii. The natural edge of the bowl is defined by the symmetrical ring of branches particular to this species of conifer. A particularly tough wood, the project required dozens of hours of hand-polishing with 10,000 grit sandpaper to achieve the glass-like finish.
